What will the future hold

A couple weeks ago we had the blessing of driving to The Riggs house, http://www.riggsfamilyblog.com/ spending time with them and working with Abby's daddy, Brent, to put together a video for our oldest son, Travis, to submit for a 'free ride' scholarship his freshman year to Hardin Simmons University. (See video below). Hardin Simmons had a contest where you could submit a 60 second video on what you would do with a degree from Hardin Simmons University. While we were excited to find out we were one of the finalist- unfortunately, our video did not win. If we had won we would have had the money to begin an adoption from AHOPE orphanage in Ethiopia (a dream we have had for a long time). I'll admit I am disappointed, but I also know that our plans are not always God's plans and so I choose to take this time to continue to PRAISE God for the many, many blessings He has given us. (Like awesome friends who would help us put together a video at the drop of a hat, and an awesome son with an amazing heart).

God knows, He knows the road He wants us to take and He knows how it will all work out. Thank you Lord for allowing us, and equipping us to participate in Your sovereign plans.

"I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart." Psalm 40:8

Amy,
..."our plans are not always God's plans" and so many times that's what is so terribly hard for me. Thank you for the gentle reminder. I'll be praying for you while you wait. Hope you have a blessed weekend!
In Him,
E

Sorry to hear he did NOT win!

Trusting God has better and bigger plans ahead.

It is a good thing He does NOT always give us what we want - but gives us what we need - to be all that He desires!

Hugs and much love - you know I adore Travis in this video! and understand Abby's heartbreak over the "other" girl! :)

One of my favorite sayings is:
I don't know what the future holds, but I know WHO holds the future. May your son's future be blessed no matter the path.

I am so sorry about your dissapointment. :( I will pray that now that He has closed a door, He will quickly open a big old window of opportunity!!

(PS. I just have to say that your son blesses my socks off. If my son ends up like him I don't think I'll be able to stop smiling!! Give him a HUGE hug for me, and tell him what a role model he is.) (Oh and can you run the concept of 'arranged marriage' by him? ;) I've got 2 pretty amazing (and beautiful) teens myself!) ;)

Well who could watch that video and NOT give him the scholarship???? Great job.
God has the plans to help you with your adoption. I am excited to see what He has planned for you.

Awww, I'm so sorry, Amy. :( I was so hoping he'd win.

But I think you've already won with the fact that you have an amazing son who has a huge and caring heart.

Oh, and from what I gather, Chantelle's daughters are pretty cute... ;-)

Travis,
God has another plan for you I am positive of that. Loss of this scholarship is just one step back. You will keep going by leaps and bounds.

Love ya,
Gram and Gramps

Amy, you have a special young man there! I'm sorry his video didn't win. I guess God's not ready to do the big "reveal" yet! :) Hugs! DebbieT

Wow - what an amazing son you have! An adoption attorney - I love his heart!

I am sure Abby just LOVED being in his video ... since he is one of her boyfriends. :)

I am sorry that things did not work out as you had hoped. It is going to be exciting to see what God has in store for your family!

Amy,
Travis has grown in to such a fine young man! It is hard to believe that he is going to college! I know you are so proud of him, as I am too! Please tell him we said hello, and we wish him all the best for his future!
Love you all,
Rhonda
