Some of my best childhood memories are from family vacations. They weren't anything fancy or expensive or grand- just time spent together as a family. In a world where we are consumed with the Internet, video games, TV and cell phones- it is nice to get away from it all and just enjoy each other.

I think sometimes as parents we feel that we have to 'give' our children everything- to make them happy. But I truly believe that the things that our children will remember the most do not come with high price tags- but are actually quite cheap- our time. I don't think I will ever get tired of just looking into my children's eyes, listening to their laughter and discovering more about who they are.

This past weekend Todd and I, and the 7 youngest were able to sneak away from the busyness of life and just spend some time talking, laughing and exploring. We stayed in a little cabin made available through The Children's Hospital in Dallas. I didn't think it was possible, but I think I fell even more in love with my children. They truly take my breath away~ and I am so very, very blessed. So in a world full of schedules, appointments, lessons and media entertainment-take every opportunity to grab hold of your kids and enjoy the miracle they truly are.

Oh, how each of us need that so desparately!! I am always left speechless by what I learn from and about each of my children when we get rid of all the extras that seem to creep in. This year we have done away with most activities away from the home, and we've never been happier!! We are just loving and being!! You are so blessed.
Amazed by HIS grace,

Yes, I believe that so much and I am already doing that about the material things. Those truly aren't important. You look super beautiful in the picture with Todd girly:) Looks like you got some rest. I am so happy you were able to do that with your family and have some peace. Those things are priceless.

All of the pictures are precious but the first picture really shows the connection between Carson and Kaden with Carson's little hand moving toward Kaden. You really seem to have a united little group there! Beautiful!

It is true. My parents where extremely poor when I was growing up, but they intentionally spent time with us doing fun things...water skiing, camping...things that didn't cost a lot, but know, I am so grateful for those times. And today, they are still the ones that we go play with for vacations and holidays.

I SO agree with you!! I vowed before having children that when we were blessed with them that we would take at least one vacation, however small, a year to reconnect as a family!
