Dear Crockpot Mama's

Would you be ever so kind as to share your favorite crock pot recipes with me (and anyone else who happens upon this post)? I am in dire need of some new crockpot recipes (the simpler the better) so I have more time to hug and snuggle and stare at my beautiful children. I will be forever grateful!

I'll start:

Crockpot White Chicken Chili

2 lbs chicken breast
1 48 oz. jar of great Northern beans
1 16 oz. jar salsa
1 8 oz. shredded Montery Jack cheese
1 8 0z. can chicken broth

Throw ingredients in crockpot and cook on low for 5-6 hours. Crunch tortilla chips on top and serve.

I'm trying a crockpot recipe where you use a whole chicken cut up,1 can of cream of chicken soup,1 can cream of mushroom soup,1 cup rice,1 tsp.salt.2 cups of water.Cook on low 5-6 hours.Yours sounds yummy.I'm going to make it.

My simplest and one of our favorite recipes is salsa chicken.

2 Jars salsa (We really like W@l-mart's peach pineapple chipotle salsa)
1 bag frozen chicken breasts (I forget how many lbs it comes out too. 2 and 1/2 I think)

Put chicken in crock pot, cover with salsa, put on low for 8-10 or on high for 6-8. We like it to fall apart.

Eat with tortillas and salad. Very good with sour cream. Yummy! I also discovered that if I remove the chicken and set it aside (in the oven to keep it warm) and add 2 cups of rice to the boiling salsa it makes really good Spanish rice. Yum.

Is that easy or what? :)

Clam Chowder:
2 cans clam chowder
2 cans cream of potato soup
2 cans cans minced slams
1 pint half and half
1 stick of butter

Combine all ingredients & cook on low 2-4 hours. SOOOO good!

Smothered Steak:
1-2 lbs top round steak
1 pkg frozen french green beans
1 can sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup terriyaki sauce (or soy sauce)
2 tbsp water

Low 4-6 hours until meat is tender and falls apart
Serve over rice

This tastes much more complicated than it is!

Lay 1 lb frozen chicken breasts in crock pot
Cover with 1-2 jars bbq sauce, depending on how saucy you like it.

Cook on low all day, then shred chicken with fork just before serving. Eat on hamburger buns. YUM!

I'm off-island for a few days, but will try to remember to get a couple of recipes to you. We LOVE our 7 quart crockpot ... large enough to feed our extra-large family.

Hi Amy,

Black Bean Soup

4 cans of black beans
3 med onions (or however much onion you'd like)
1/2 small jar roasted red pepper (or again, as much as you'd like)
1 small can of green chiles
1 soup-size can diced tomatoes
1 tsp. marjoram
1 tsp. oregano
1 clove garlic

Do not drain beans. Add all ingredients to crockpot. Cook on low all day. If you prefer a thicker soup, take several cups of soup and combine in a blender. Return this to the crockpot ad continue cooking. Serve with sour cream, salsa, and shredded cheese. Can be easily doubled for large families (I have a 6 qt crockpot and a double recipe fits fine)


Easy Beef Stroganoff

2 cans Cream of Mushroom Soup
2 cans French Onion Soup
1 1/2 - 2 lbs bonless cubed beef (I use stew beef)
Essence of Emeril seasoning

2 large jar of mushrooms
egg noodles or rice

Season meat the night before and place in refrigerator overnight(if you remember) with Essence of Emeril (use your judgement on seasoning). Place the meat in the crockpot the next morning. Combine and stir together mushrooms, mushroom soup and French Onion soup in a separate container. Pour over meat. Cook on loaw all day. Combine 1 cup of water with about 1/2 cup of flour or cornstarch and add to the crockpot to thicken. Serve Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings


4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
2 tablespoons butter
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
1 onion, finely diced
2 (10 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces
1 (14oz) can of low sodium chicken broth


1. Place the chicken, butter, soup, and onion in a slow cooker, and put can of low sodium chicken broth over it.
2. Cover, and cook for 5 to 6 hours on High. About 30 minutes before serving, place the torn biscuit dough in the slow cooker. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center.

Ive made this twice it is really great. I found this on a site and changed it up. One thing I didn't do is add a whole onion. I only added about half an onion.

This is one of our FAVORITES... It is really good (and low fat).
Place four chicken breast halves in crock pot. Mix 1/2 cup of white wine with one packet of McCormick's Thick N Zesty Spaghetti sauce mix (packet of powder). Pour mixture over chicken and add one can of drained, diced tomatoes. Cook on low 6-8 hours. Chicken will fall apart. Serve over pasta. It has so much flavor. I promise it is worth a try! :)

Here are 2 favorites:

Smothered Pork

boneless pork chops (or pork loin)
can of cream of mushroom (you may have to double/triple)
drained canned mushrooms

place pork chops on the bottom, then mushrooms, then soup. Cook for 6-8 hrs. The pork will be so tender and the mushrooms are SO good on top of it. I serve it with rice pilaf and a vegetable. One of my husband's favorites!

Beef Over Rice

round steak
1 packet of lipton dry onion soup
2 cans of cream of mushroom
1 can of water

cut the round steak into strips and place in bottom of crock pot. sprinkle dry soup mix on top. mix soup and water and then pour over top. cook for 6-8 hrs.

again, the beef is so tender! We serve this over rice and it is very yummy!

Don't laugh. This one's what we call a twofer.
2 ingredients.
Chicken and BBQ sauce.
cook on low all day until the chicken is easily shredded.
Serve on buns with salad on the side and maybe if they're lucky, some steamed sweet corn!
EASY peasy and they eat it UP!
Can later be mixed with Bush's Baked Beans and served over cornbread...IF you have any leftovers! :)

I would HIGHLY suggest This is the best blog ever - all crock pot recipees. Plus, the lady who writes it has to cook gluten free so it's very helpful. I love her reviews (and not everything turned out great. I've tried many of her recipees with great success.

Here's one other one that is one of my favorites (not from the crockpot blog)

Crockpot Lasagna

8 uncooked lasagna noodles
1 lb ground beef
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 (28 oz) jar spaghetti sauce
1/2 c water
1 (4-oz) can mushrooms (optional)
diced pepperoni (optional)
1 (15-oz) ctn ricotta OR cottage cheese
2 c. shredded mozzarella OR other cheese

Brown beef and drain, stir in seasoning. Break half of noodles and place in cooker. Spread half of beef, half of sauce, half of water, half of ricotta and half of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers. Cover and cook on low for 5 hours.

Here's mine! What a great idea, I am going to try some of the above this week!

This one is easy if you cook your beef ahead of time and can just snag from the freezer or fridge.

2 cans kidney beans
2 cans black beans
2 cans white beans
1-2 lbs hamburger- COOKED
1 jar favorite salsa
1 bag frozen white corn
1 (28oz) jar crushed tomatoes
1-2 cups chicken broth
1-2 tbsp. chili powder
garlic, salt, pepper, bay leaf, sometimes I add taco seasoning for a more "taco chili" type taste.

Combine, mix, cook all day.
Voila! Hearty, healthy chili.
I serve over baked potatoes w/ cheese.

My favorite is beef brisket. I take a brisket, cut it in half and place the two halves in my 6 qt crock pot which has carrots and onions on the bottom of it. I then add a can of beef stock, two cans of tomato sauce and a couple of tablespoons of worstershire sauce. Throw in a bay leaf, put the lid on and cook it for 8 hrs on low.

Yum, yum! Now I am going to check out that 365 crock pot blog. I love my crock pot!

I will share my two most ridiculously easy recipes, but they are the kids' favorites! We just had the chicken one tonight...

Shredded Chicken Gravy

3 lb. bag frozen chicken breasts
Throw in 1/2 to 1 cup of water & cook all day on low. Remove chicken & shred. To the broth remaining in the crock pot add 2 cans cream of chicken soup, pepper, poultry seasoning & dried celery flakes. Mix the chicken in & heat through. Serve over homemade mashed comfort food!

BBQ Pulled Pork

5 lb. (approx) Pork Butt Roast
14 oz. Beef Broth
1/4 c. brewed coffee (really)
Salt & Pepper
BBQ Sauce (We like Sweet Baby Rays Original)

Salt & pepper roast & place in crock pot. Pour broth & coffee over; cook on low 6-8 hours. Remove roast & discard juices. Shred meat with a fork & put back in crock pot. Add BBQ sauce & heat through. Serve on buns.

So Saturday when I went grocery shopping, I knew I only had so much money left for the next two weeks and I copied and pasted all these amazing recipes from this blog. If you want them I can email them to you but I don't want them to go here since I copied them from another blog. All these recipes are rich, nutricious and dirt cheap...

One of our favorites is Creamy Italian Chicken Yum Yum!!

6 boneless skinless breasts of chicken, completely thawed and defrosted
1 package of italian dressing mix
1 package of cream cheese
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
1 small finely chopped onion
1 bag of frozen peas
1 cup milk
4 tbs butter melted
1. melt butter and place in crockpot
2. place chicken over butter and turn in the melted butter
3. sprinkle the Italian dressing dry mix over chicken
4. Cook on high for 4 hours
5. Combine soup, milk and cream cheese and chopped onion, heat up and pour over the chicken.
6. Cook for another 40 minutes or so until blended. Add peas before serving
7. Meanwhile, boil water and cook egg noodles. Serve chicken over noodles.
YIELDS: 8 large portions

This is our favorite crock pot recipe. You can find some great recipes at

Creamy Fiesta Soup
3 lb. skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into 1/2 in. pieces (uncooked)
1 16oz bag of frozen corn
1 red pepper, diced
2 10 3/4 oz. cans fiesta nacho cheese soup
2 4 oz. cans diced green chile peppers
4 TBSP snipped fresh cilantro
2 1.25 oz envelope taco seasoning mix
2 cans black beans
4 cups chicken broth
16 oz. sour cream (I use low fat)
4 oz. pkg. cheese cheese

In a large slow cooker combine chicken, corn, red pepper, soup, undrained chile peppers, cilantro, taco seasoning, and black beans. Stir in chicken broth. Cover; cook on low-heat setting for 5-6 hours. Soften cream cheese for 20 seconds in microwave. Stir until smooth and combine with sour cream. Stir about 1 cup of the hot soup into the sour cream mixture and then stir into cooker; cover and let stand 5 minutes. Stir until combined.
We serve this with corn chips. Yum!

This makes a very large quantity but it freezes extremely well. Freeze leftovers and enjoy it another day!

A couple of our favorites are:

Teriyaki Chicken (beef or pork) - Cook choosen meat (I thow mine in still frozen) in crock pot for 6-8 hours, shred and toss with teriyaki sauce (I double)...

Open Face Beef sandwich- I throw a frozen roast in the crockpot for 6-8 hours, shred and serve over bread, mashed potatoes and cover with brown gravy and serve with corn.

Two of our favorites;
Chicken curry (in a hurry!)
four chicken breasts
2 large white onions slice thin
2 cloves of garlic
2-4 tablespoons of curry seasoning
dash of nutmeg
1 tablespoon cinamon
salt and pepper
1/2 cup chicken stock (or more if you want more "sauce"

layer onions first and then the chicken. I like to pre mix my spices and brush on the chicken, covering it well. Sprinkle garlic on top. Pour in the chicken stock and let it cook! We like the chicken all pulled apart and served over quinoa, but you could use rice or even tortillas.

Turkey Dinner
1 turkey breast
1 can jellied cranberry sauce
1 package lipton onion soup mix

Mix the onion soup mix with the cranberry sauce and spread over the turkey breast. Crock pot away! :-) Yum. Serve with the normal thanksgiving fixins.

I love using my crock pot too, and use it at least twice a week on our busiest evenings. My favorite is to put a whole roasting chicken inside (I have an oval crock) and dump any one of the following over it, BBQ Sauce, Italian Dressing, or a packet of ranch dressing mix and butter. A ranch dressing packet also flavors a roast really well too. We also love the Taco Soup recipe. I am going to try a enchilada recipe this week :) If it is any good I will post it to my blog.

My favorite and so easy too:

4 chicken breasts
1 cup of Coca Cola
1 cup BBQ sauce

Put all that in the crock pot on low for 8-10 hours. After about 7 hours use two forks to pull chicken apart. (it will look like pulled pork.)

I have also doubled the recipe and it turns out great!

It freezes great too!

We serve it on hamburger buns or over a baked potato with sour cream and shredded cheese!

Here's our family fav:

Chalupa Roast
2-3 lb. roast (beef or pork)
chili powder
1 onion, chopped
2 cans (15 oz) beans (pinto, black or 1 of each)
2 cans (10 oz) Rotel
1 can (10 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1 can (6 oz) chopped green chilies
1/2 tsp. salt

Coat all sides of roast with chili powder and place in crock pot. Layer the rest of the ingredients in order listed. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours (until roast shreds). Do not stir until cooking time is finished. Drain excess juices from pot before stiring. Pull the roast out and shred then add the other ingredients. Eat in flour tortillas with cheese, sour cream and or guacamole. (Serves 6)

Here's a funny one for you Amy:

A big 'ol package of boneless pork ribs (I have even done 2 pkgs)
A can or 2 of sauerkraut

Has been made with any combination of the above, but I like 2 cans and what I think must be about 3 pounds of meat.

I plop it all in and cook on low for around 8 hours and it always turns out amazing! The first time we were served this we were at a friends house, and we were so nervous because we thought we didn't like sauerkraut...Ben and I were coming up with all kinds of excuses for not eating it, none of which were honest or made sense ;-) We decided we better just do our best with our plate, and what do you know? It was so good! Even our kids eat this one :-) Even people who still won't try the s.k. rave about the flavor it gives the meat.
