Please pray for Guatemala

http://www.jcics.org/Guatemala.pdf

"As recently published by Nuestro Diario, a leading Guatemalan newspaper, children are being abandoned to the streets at an alarming rate. With few government institutions to provide care and the closure of many private institutions, some birthmothers are simply leaving their newly born children in trash dumps. Nuestro Diario reports that in Guatemala City alone, 91 children were found abandoned with 70 being new born infants. Twenty abandoned children in Guatemala City were found after they had already perished. What is being done to build a social service system which not only protects children from corruption but also from a tragic death?"

Sometimes when it's too much for my human mind or heart to withstand, all I can do is wrap my arms just a little bit tighter around my precious little girls and ask once again Why?

This is truly heartwrenching when so many would be willing to raise these precious children as their own. We are praying for Guatemala, too.

I think it is so important that we continue to give and support relief agencies who are there "on the ground" in countries such as Guatemala. My family and I follow and support an adoption agency called "All God's children International" which has a home for women and Children in Guatemala. It is a home that rescues and takes in children from the situations you have written about but the need is still great. It is important to our Father in heaven that we do all that we can for His little ones.

I didn't know about this. My heart is breaking. Our little Guatemalan blessing is playing happily in the next room. He was so wanted and is so cherished. It is hard to understand a world where government policies keep the children from Jayden's country from enjoying the same life that he does.

This is so sad. It really does make one question why things are the way they are. What makes me so special to be not born in that country? Am I serving my purpose here to the full extent?

And on another note, I am reading a great book about attachment and thought you might also find it beneficial it's called Attachment in Adoption Practical Tools for Today's Parents by Deborah D. Gray.

Thanks for praying for our family. We are working through our issues...and will praise God through it all. Blessings, Misty

It's too much Amy.
It's just too much.
What can we do but cry out to Jesus on behalf of His children?

I just don't have any words. My heart aches for my children's beautiful country-my heart aches for the innocent children that are pushed. Continuing to pray for the innocent in Guatemala.

I know your pain! It breaks my heart and I ask Why Lord? all the time! There are still so many of us who would love to take these children! But the Govt. won't have that any longer so they just try to forget about them and act like they are not there, But they are!!!! And I can't forget that!Esp. every time I look at my 2 girls!

This completely breaks my heart because I would love to adopt a child from Guatemala. My husband and I are currently in the process of adopting a child from the foster care system, and we made that decision after Guatemala closed international adoption. I completely feel like we are on the right path and right where God wants us to be, and yet ... this makes absolutely no sense to me. I pray that Guatemala finds an answer soon.

I just don't understand and my heart aches for this beautiful precious country that cannot find a way to care for their children. :( Part of me is so angry. Those children would be fed and waiting on families right now if the greedy had not gotten their way. I wonder if they hear these stories...is this truly better? :( Thanks for posting that. I am feeling compelled to do the same. The world should know what a few unethical greedy people can do. Where is UNICEF now?

Oh Amy, this is the very thing we spoke about when the adoptions in Guatemala closed. Scott and I immediately began to hear stories from friends working in Guatemala with orphanages and other organizations of babies being left in trash cans. The stories are horrific and totally too much for me to comprehend. Even in this God has a plan - one I can't imagine or see but trusting He will bring beauty from the ashes. That country needs our prayers - it is heavily under spiritual attack. They still do infant and child sacrifice to Gods up in the hills of Guatemala. Vodoo and all kinds of evil things go on there and even so I witnessed hundreds of Christians all over the city of Antiqua. Praising God that His hand is upon them!

Hugs and love,
Jill
