Do you ever get tired of trying to prove yourself to the world?
Prove you are:
Pretty enough
Rich enough
Strong enough
Worthy enough
Skinny enough
Smart enough
Creative enough
Popular enough
Good enough
ENOUGH.
Prove you are:
Pretty enough
Rich enough
Strong enough
Worthy enough
Skinny enough
Smart enough
Creative enough
Popular enough
Good enough
ENOUGH.
Can I just tell you something?
Your diplomas, degrees, and credentials don’t make a difference.
How popular your kids are don’t make a difference.
The square footage of your house doesn’t make a difference.
Your jean size doesn’t make a difference.
Your pedicures, massages and French manicures don’t make a difference.
Your designer labels don’t make a difference.
How clean your house is doesn’t make a difference.
The size of your diamond doesn’t make a difference.
Your past failures don’t make a difference.
Your bank account doesn’t make a difference.
Paying $120 to have your hair done doesn't make a difference.
Others approving of your life doesn't make a difference.
Your
HEART
will be
what makes
the difference.
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)

Who at the moment is about to bang her head on the wall because working with agencies is just NO fun!
FANTASTIC POST!
Getting our hearts clean is the difference!!! Love that!!! Great reminder.
Beautiful Amy. If only half the people in this country would take it to heart and stop trying to please the WORLD where there is nothing to gain from.
I recently found your blog and find that you put my thoughts into words so well. I started a blog with the intention of saying the things you say (and I merely think), but just haven't had the time to develop it yet. Thank you for speaking my thoughts. Thank you for having the courage to say what really needs to be said. Preach it, girlfriend! Children without families and anyone living in poverty plagues my thoughts on a daily basis. Spending time in Haiti made it all that harder. Now there are real faces with names that run through my mind. Keep saying what needs to be said because every one person can band together with others of like mind and make a difference in the life of a child. That is what matters.
Love that verse. You are so right on. Thanks for sharing. I needed that reminder.
We all try to fit our world into that little box. When God's world is so much better.
Blessings,
Gail
Well said, and thank you for the reminders we all need everyday. I chuckled at the $120. haircut. Last time I found a cut for $8.! Whoohoo!
I used to be a $120 haircut person. I used to like "stuff". We are changing more every day. Now, all I can think is, "I want to bring a another child home MORE."
It's having an effect on our kiddos, as well. Kam went to a volleyball game to watch friends play the other night. I gave her enough money to get in & get a snack. She came home with the snack money & put it in the pickle jar...beautiful.
We're not perfect, but we are definitely trying to re-focus. Thanks for the encouragement.
Perfect Truth!
yes! thanks.
I was just talking about this very thing in the car the other day with my oldest son. I love those talks in the car when you have one on one time with your child and they ask the really deep questions about God. I love sharing my faith with my children and opening their eyes to what is really important to God. It is not about our "stuff" but is about our heart and our protection of it.
I was 'cured' of this mentality after our first trip to China. It's kind of hard to enjoy frivolous luxuries when children are languishing in orphanages. Love how you put this...excellent post! :)
Head knows it ..... HEART GET IT!
Seriously $120. for a haircut though .... do I live in the wrong neighbourhood {grins sarcastically}
well said, friend. Love you.
Wow, what a post. I think I will print that off and put it on my frig...thank you for such a powerful reminder.
Blessings!
I just stumbled onto your blog from another...You have a beautiful family and I loved reading your posts!
Great pictures too!
I love your blog--have even sent my readers here. Gotta ask though, what version of the Bible did you get the verse from? Please answer--I love it--just can't find it.
this has been the verse of my life since February!!! i love it! what a difference it makes when we choose to guard our heart and understand the full blessing we receive when we do!
Hi! I, too, found your blog through another's blog.
I post a weekly Word of God post on Wednesday and was hoping that i could link to your post and, perhaps if you are willing, allow me to quote your words with all credit going back to you and your blog of course!
