Why homeschool- Part 2

Another question we have been getting a lot lately is what homeschool materials we are using. We are doing a program called Classical Conversations. Classical Conversations meets one time a week in a town close by with other homeschool children and parents. There we have an awesome tutor who 'teaches' the material we are learning for the week. My kids absolutely love going and being around the other children and I enjoy being around other cool homeschools moms as well. Kaden and Carson get to sit in the classroom with us and learn, however they cannot technically start until they are 4 years old. Havyn goes into the nursery room right across the hall. In class we also do a science experiment, art and right now they are learning to play the tin whistles (like a recorder). At home we review what we have learned at Classical Conversations as well as doing other things like reading, handwriting, math, Spanish, spelling, bible lessons, cooking and more. Aleigha and Mya wanted to show you what they are learning in Classical Conversations. :)

**After reading your sweet comments I do want you to know though that what the girls are doing is ALL Classical Conversations. I promise you that I didn't even know what they are learning before Classical Conversations and I am learning it right along with them now. ;0) It's amazing!

They are precious! Doesn't it blow your mind how much they can remember?? My kids loved doing it too. But I was pulled in too many directions with so many children and unable to keep up with memory work while trying to instill the other homeschool components!
I love how Aliegha was proud of Mya for getting the answers right! Love is a powerful healing tool!

Love and hugs,
Jill
PS I have videos on my homeschool blog our children sharing all that they learned last year too. They still do all the skip counting to 12, remember their history sentences, etc. Pretty amazing considering we stopped doing it in January 2010.

Thank you for sharing your journey. As I stated in an earlier post, we are planning on this next fall and I am nervous. You have helped me with my fears and my kicking and screaming:) I am hoping to have my third little one home by next fall from Ethiopia and so I hope that I can somehow pull all this off. Thank you for your wonderful blog that God is using to bless me. I share your posts with my husband daily...your life has made a huge impact on my family and we have never met:) Thank you.

I don't know you- found your blog through adoption circles- but I just wanted to say that completely humbled and inspired me. LOVED hearing those girls. We are struggling with whether God is calling us to homeschool or not- we are so torn. But, that might have just been the straw that broke the camel's back. We'll see. Thanks for posting that precious video.

wow Amy, I am just blown away. I even pulled Kevin in here to watch this video and he said he didn't know half the stuff your girls learned in such a short time. Even though I have talked about it for a long time once I am not working anymore but you helped me tonight to have Kevin see a huge picture of this.. I be knocking on your door when its my time.

That's great! My daughter who is now in High School got a tin whistle this summer. She loves it! For her language she chose Latin and it is already coming in handy! Classical Conversations sounds like a wonderful program.

WHAT? They are so much smarter than me already! That's amazing Amy! I'm so impressed!

How do they teach them so much in such a short period of time?

Oh my goodness, friend, that is the cutest video I have seen in such a long time. Soooooo sweet :) I am right there with you on ALL the reasons you decided to HS. It is so NOT easy, but oh so worth it. I would not have it any other way.

Sending you HUGE hugs tonight.

OK, so how how do we find a Classical Conversations group in our area? This is about the 5th time in a not-very-long amount of time that CC has come up and I'm wondering if God is trying to tell me something! :)

I love how you're encouraging families that homeschooling is possible and can be such a blessing. Our boys love CC, too! Pretty amazing how the Lord has designed our little ones' minds to learn about all He has done!
