Her smile lights up the world.
Only for Yessica, her life will never be what it could have been... because a preventable disease robbed it from her.
Yessica has polio. She's had it since she was just 2 months old.
She smiles and she understand what is going on around her.
She responds with her eyes and she responds with her smile... only she cannot communicate any other way.
She is resigned to a wheelchair.
As we rubbed her cheek and swiped the fly away from her eyes she radiated joy.
She is the oldest of 6 children. Her father farms for a living and works long hours- her mother and siblings do the best they can to take care of her needs but the cost of her diapers is hard on them.
As we prayed with this family and began to build a relationship, I couldn't help but to thank the Lord for the privilege of this new friendship. Her strength, her beauty and her courage blew me away.
Some people are mesmerized with those who have wealth, power and fame- yet there, they will never find what I found today in the eyes of my new friend... Him.
"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

Amy, I know a company that makes washable "all in one" cloth "diapers" for older kids and special-needs adults. Is that something that I could donate to this family to help ease the burden? It would make a little more work, because they would have to wash them, but they last for YEARS and would save them diaper costs. As a bonus, the diapers are made by a big homeschooling Christian family, and mom of a special-needs daughter! : ) I'll come back and look for a response here, and if you are interested I'll give you my info.
So grateful that God is putting people in your path that are changing your life as you help and enable them. Thanks for sharing with us and giving us the opportunity to go where we cant go at this time. Much love, provision and protection over your family :)

When I saw Yessica's face and her name, I burst into tears. My sister, Jessica, was born with severe Cerebral Palsy and never walked or talked. She had the most beautiful eyes, that just danced all the time. She talked with her eyes. She taught me so much about love. She died this past Sunday at age 22, completely unexpectedly. There seems to be no reason why. Can you tell me if there is anything I can do for this family in particular, in my Jessica's honour? Please. I can't stop coming back here to stare at her picture..those eyes.
