One of the requirements to live here in Guatemala is that we have to get residency- or else leave the country every 3 months. We have been working on getting residency (it's a little like international adoption paperwork) but it is not completed yet... which meant we needed to leave the country for a day or else we would be considered illegal. So, we packed up the car, and our awesome fellow missionaries (The Patlans) and headed to the Guatemala/Mexican border to have our passports stamped. It was actually a wonderful homeschool lesson for our kids as well... they got to experience immigration, see rubber trees, go the beach and drink Coconut milk from a stand on the side of the road.
And one of the coolest things we saw was this...
U.S coast Guards... closest thing to home we have seen in quite awhile. :)

Looks like a fun day.
Check out my blog. BIG prayer requests this week. BIG decision needing to be made this weekend.
love ya,
Laurel :)
What a fun trip...can't beat the beach and fresh coconut milk! Did they like it? I remember living overseas, and any tiny thing American was a joy to see!
That looks like a fun trip! My sister and I are counting down to our trip to Guatemala- we leave four months from tomorrow!
Yep, my hubby was on one of those for 3 years. His was based out of Honolulu, HI. If I see that number right, it is based out of Alaska. So it made it's trek all the way down from AK. Lots of work to do for the Coast Guard down in that area unfortunately. Glad you got to see them. He's still active duty, just on a smaller boat now.
Love the pictures. Keep them coming!!
If someone wanted to sponsor a child through your organization, how would they go about doing that.
The pictures are beautiful! Your children are gorgeous! And wow look at that beach! Oh to get to see that view! One day! Good luck on your registration, but I hope that you keep taking that day break!
Wonderful fun! Those U.S. Coastguards are pretty amazing. Love ya'll. I will do what I can to speed up that residency process.
I want a picture of you too with that fullfilled angel smile! I cannot get over how big Havyn looks. She really has blossemed. What a fun trip. The orphanage we used to go to we always had that one boy. He would just run away and try to cross the Mexican Border because he knew his dad lived in the states but they would always return him back to the orphanage.
Whenever I read your blog I cry, mostly for joy in all that you are doing to take care of God's children! You are in my prayers, God Bless you and your amazing family!
