It's summer break here in Guatemala so today we had our Vacation Bible School. The kids were all so excited and they just kept coming and coming...

We loved that the classrooms were filled to the brim. :)

Todd found these 2 sweeties outside peaking in the windows of the church and invited them in...

Seeing them literally ripped my heart out. I don't know if I will ever get used to seeing such poverty... and I am pretty sure God feels the same way.

Standing in the front of the church I looked out the window and this is what I saw...

A rainbow...

And I was reminded once again that while all we may be able to offer these children today is a cookie and a bible story~ what they find IN HIM is worth more than all the treasures this world holds.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

OH MY WORD AMY--There was a GIANT rainbow across the sky all day today! We haven't had one of those in forever! I don't know why, but that really jumped out at me as such a neat connection, you all experiencing one too. And as for those two sweeties, I don't even know what to say. I just wanna love on them. What a picture of how the King treats us, calling us inside to sit at his banquet table. You are such a strong picture of Christ. Thank you.

I guess we all feel the same-the need to scoop those sweetie pies up and love on them while feeding them a bowl of soup. I just wanted to do that and give them a warm bath with some comfy clothes. Thank God you're there, Amy. Because I know you love them. Praying with you, sister.

Hugs! and Prayers,
AmberK

Reading the tremendous response on your website and facebook about those two little girls, got me thinking about what a gift motherhood is. The natural desire and ability God places in some women to 'mother' is such a blessing from God that I think is mostly taken for granted.

It is a lesson I have been learning. Realizing that I can't and won't be able to save all, or any of these kids. God has them in the palm of His hand. Praise the Lord!!

Amy I just had to mention you on my post I wrote for tomorrow. You have no idea how God is using your ministry to speak to our family. It's simply a miracle...and I am SO humbled to be a little part of your ministry even though we are thousands of miles apart.

I stand in awe of the greatness of our Lord. Please hug those precious ones for me...okay?

Hugs,
Connie

Incredible. I wish I could be there. I see those faces and imagine my own children... I just want to scoop them all up and tell them how loved they are. Youre doing amazing things for the Kingdom. I prayed for you this morning... For favor and blessings and joy and provision... Hug one for me today:)
Love,

Amy, I stumbled upon your blog one day completely out of the blue and I've been following you all for several months now. I'm from Pennsylvania and I work for a Presbyterian church in Pittsburgh. All the children in our Sunday school class have begun to pray for you, your family, and how God is using you. Each week we learn about a new missionary and the field they are serving. I hope this encourages you, even in the smallest way. Blessings!

Hi Amy! Just wanted to let you know that we made your peanut butter balls for Christmas and they were soooo yummy! They will become a tradition for sure. Also, thank you for your sweet postcard, too. The kids thought that was so cool to get mail from so far away. Many blessings in 2012!
