This past weekend Todd and I decided to take the kids away for a few days and give them some family time where we could talk, pray and let our hearts heal. The kids are really missing the fabulous four and we felt like it was a good idea to take a little break from all the stress and just have some family time. We really wanted to give them our undivided attention and a place to share their feelings without interruptions. The weather wasn't as great as we had hoped for- pretty chilly and windy, but actually it ended up being a perfect weekend anyway. The last day did end up being nice enough for a little fishing and trail walking which made the kids day.
I love seeing what my kids can actually come up with when all TVs, computers, PlayStations, Wii's and cell phones are not available. That is actually where the 'dress up' pictures in the previous post came from. :0) Although I admit I did have a couple of 'cheaters' in the cell phone text area...
So what do you do with an empty TV cabinet?
Make your own entertainment!! Move over American Idol! Rock climbing...Playing games...
Laying in the grass...
Skipping rocks.... (no wonder we couldn't catch any fish)
Playing in the tree house...
Um excuse me, is that bed head you have AND a cell phone in your hand sir?
Crafts galore
Whatever Keegan.... ;0)
Piggy back rides...
Just being cute...
Fishing...
Just hanging out...
Gone fishing... did she catch that text?
Doing crafts...
Loving on our babies...
A little basketball...
Still fishing...
Aleigha taking out her frustrations on the world. ;0)
Do you think he's trying to tell me something?
Pillow sandwich...
Ahem... caught again!!
I love you my precious kiddos. Thanks for always making me smile!!

You have SUCH beautiful children! So happy that you got to go away--just what you all needed at this time.
Blessings!
Amy - so glad to hear you got away for a little bit! Praying that God has restored your hearts a bit from the rest you took in His goodness in nature.
I love all the photos but my absolutely favorite is the last one - great shot!
Love and hugs,

You have a beautiful family! What a good idea and what a neat getaway.
Take care,

I loved seeing the pictures, and love being able to keep up with you and your family through your blog! Looks like you had a great time!

Blessed, to say the least!
I think this was a great idea. When our first foster child left we did something similar. Even when it is the right thing to do it is still difficult and takes our hearts a little while to get to a "new normal".
So glad that you had this time away. Your kids are adorable - even when texting! LOL
Been praying for all of you.
Your children are so cute!! What fun you must have had...family time is so important.
I'm coming out of "lurk zone" to let you know that your previous posts about losing the fab four have been difficult to read. I am a therapist who works with intact families referred through DCFS (a little different than your situation) but who have faced neglect and abuse like I could not imagine. Hearing your side of the story and how God can work in and through situations like yours gives me a renewed vigor to help the kids and their families that I see on a day to day basis. Praying for healing for your family and a peace from God that passes all understanding!
What a great idea and I am sure it was so much needed. Everyone looks like they had a blast!
What a great idea to just get away. Looks like you all had a great time. Downtime withOUT electronics is so wonderful!!!
I'm so glad you got some time away to just be together. Praying for all of your continued healing.
What a great weekend! Where was that? Looks like a retreat center or something - great idea - no interruptions. xo
I'm so glad you got away for the weekend. Yea!
Looks like a lot of fun!!!
Laurel :)
That looks like a wonderful getaway, and exactly what you all needed.
